Tag sieben, day seven.

The last day.

I started at 6:15 am in Mauves sur Loire, the influence of the tides is clearly noticeable here. It was still countercurrent and I only got 5 kilometers in an hour. After another hour I reached the suburbs of Nantes.

The countercurrent slowly decreased and the moment came when there was none. Nantes, with its six bridges full of noisy traffic, depressed my mood, it stank of exhaust fumes. Slowly the current started again but also the headwind. I had to stay tuned and make the pace so that I didn't get back into the flood season. It only got uglier on the water I arrived at the cargo port and the big ships. It depressed me that I couldn't move faster, only the smell increased and so did the waves of the small navet boats. When the inflated dead rat swam past me it was so disgusting and I had a crisis.

But it doesn't do anything, just keep going ... sorting things out in your head and moving on.

The wind increased more and more ... the current also but the two factors almost canceled each other out. Finally outside of Nantes the floodplain in front of the sea. Not very nice, rather dreary, as then more wind and now more waves came, I fought my way both paddling and in my head. I had so much of enough ... I just couldn't get out of the grass, mud and seabirds far and wide.

It was the toughest 60 kilometers in the whole of the Loire.

At times I was only able to paddle on my knees and the pressure steadily increased and couldn't make it before the next tide hit.

At 1 p.m. I reached the destination in Paimboeuf.

Very, very happy and emotionally very close to tears.
